Prof Carlos Arnaldo

Prof. Carlos Arnaldo is an Associate Professor of Demography and Director of the Centre for African Studies at the Eduardo Mondlane University. He holds a PhD in Demography, a master’s degree in Population Studies from the Australian National University, and an honours degree in Geography from the Eduardo Mondlane University. He has extensive experience in conducting research in Mozambique and in the African continent covering the areas of population, especially those related to population dynamics, demographic analysis and estimates, fertility, migration, reproductive health and HIV and AIDS, nuptiality and marriage dynamics and poverty. Prof. Arnaldo brings extensive experience in research management, gained through his leadership as coordinator of numerous research programs and projects, as well as his roles within the research divisions of the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences and the Centre for African Studies at Eduardo Mondlane University. He has played a key role in revising Mozambique’s Population Policy and has contributed to several other policy-relevant initiatives. His scholarly work includes a wide range of publications focused on population and health dynamics.
