Sultan Hebo is an Assistant Professor of Public Health at Arba Minch University in Ethiopia and a social entrepreneur with over 15 years of experience in research, academia, and youth empowerment. A PhD candidate at Maastricht University, his research specializes in adolescent and youth sexual and reproductive health and rights, with a focus on addressing health inequities among pastoralist and marginalized populations.

Sultan has authored over 35 peer-reviewed research publications in high-impact journals. His research leadership is supported by fellowships and grants, including recognition as an AfRes-Data Fellow with the UAPS, and grant awards from Arba Minch University, UAPS, AmplifyChange and the Royal Society of Tropical Medicine and Hygiene (RSTMH). His work is characterized by the use of participatory, data-driven methodologies to translate evidence into scalable, community-led solutions.

Beyond academia, Sultan is the board chair and co-founder of Alliance Education Service Plc, where he leads the Alliance Frugal Innovation Centre (AFIC), Alliance College, and Alliance Academy. Through these institutions, he integrates education, frugal innovation and entrepreneurship to bridge systemic gaps for underserved youth and other vulnerable groups.

As a member of the UAPS Adolescent and Youth Development Scientific Thematic Panel, Sultan brings a unique blend of academic inquiry and social entrepreneurship. His expertise in pastoralist SRHR dynamics and frugal innovation advances the Panel’s mission to foster evidence-based policy engagement and knowledge generation for youth development across the African continent.
