Dr. Amr Abdelwahed is an academic and researcher specializing in demography, youth health, and migration studies, with over a decade of experience in population studies and policy research. Currently serving as an Assistant Professor at Cairo University and a Postdoctoral Researcher at Huaqiao University, Dr. Abdelwahed has a proven track record of mentorship, interdisciplinary research, and scientific leadership.
Dr. Abdelwahed’s academic journey culminated in a Ph.D. in Demography from Shanghai University, where his research focused on migration patterns and their social and economic impacts on youth. His work has earned him recognition through various academic and professional awards, including an Outstanding International Student Award at Shanghai University. His dedication to advancing knowledge in statistics and demographic research is reflected in his published work, including studies on youth migration, disability, and socioeconomic health determinants in Egypt and the broader MENA region.
His current research projects explore the post-pandemic integration challenges faced by migrants in China’s megacities and aim to provide actionable, evidence-based recommendations for youth policies across Africa and the Middle East. As an active member of the Young African Statisticians Association (YASA), Dr. Abdelwahed is committed to fostering youth empowerment through data-driven policies and capacity building.
Dr. Abdelwahed is excited to contribute to the UAPS Adolescent and Youth Scientific Panel, advocating for policies that promote adolescent health, migration, and youth empowerment across Africa.
