Naomi holds a PhD in Applied Population Research from the University of Exeter, a BSc (Honours) Economics, and an MSc in Population Studies from the University of Zimbabwe. She is a demographer with a strong interdisciplinary focus on adolescent and youth sexual and reproductive health, fertility, morbidity and mortality, migration, gender-based violence, and economic and environmental development. She has over 30 years of experience in conducting policy-oriented research, monitoring and evaluation of programs/projects, and consultancy work for Government ministries, local non-governmental and international organisations, including the Southern African Development Community (SADC), Joint United Nations Programme on HIV/AIDS (UNAIDS), United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA), United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), and United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF), and International organisation for Migration (IOM). With a strong background in demography, Naomi has contributed to population initiatives, particularly in adolescent sexual and reproductive health, shaping national and regional development strategies. She is widely published in peer-reviewed journals, books, book chapters, and technical research reports, and serves as a reviewer for several international and regional academic journals. She has served as an external examiner for doctoral theses at several universities in South Africa (University of the Witwatersrand, University of Cape Town, University of Johannesburg, University of KwaZulu-Natal, Stellenbosch University), and in Namibia (University of Namibia). She currently serves as a Board Member of the Research Council of Zimbabwe (RCZ) and as Vice Chairperson of the Infrastructure Development Bank of Zimbabwe (IDBZ) Board. She previously served as Chairperson of the Zimbabwe National Statistics Agency (ZIMSTAT) Board.
