Dr. Daniel Yaw Fiaveh

Dr. Daniel Yaw Fiaveh is a sex sociologist-turned-anthropologist with expertise in gender, sexuality, and cultural studies. His work explores how masculinity and femininity intersect politically and socially, especially in African contexts. He focuses on issues such as sexual behaviours, queer lives, alcohol use, and sexual health. Dr. Fiaveh is interested in the theoretical and methodological foundations of sex research. He advocates for non-binary and gender-variant rights in Ghana. He is the editor of the Ghana Journal of Sociology and Anthropology (GJSA). At the University of Cape Coast, he lectures in Anthropology and Sociology and formerly coordinated research at CEGRAD.

Dr. Fiaveh founded the Centre for Men’s Health and Sex Studies to promote nuanced understandings of masculinity. Dr. Fiaveh is an alumnus of the University of Ghana and the Graduate Institute in Geneva. His academic work is available on ResearchGate, Google Scholar, Scopus, and through his ORCID profile.
