Welcome to the UAPS Web Site....the network of African and Africanist population scientists

The Union for African Population Studies (UAPS) is a pan-African nonprofit scientific organization that was founded through the initiative of the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa (UNECA) in March 1984, with a view to promoting the scientific study of population in Africa. With a network that includes more than 1,000 members from Africa and beyond, UAPS aims to foster the networking of scientists, policy makers and other stakeholders in population and development in order to improve research capacity and promote evidence based population policies and programmes in Africa.
